Where's Cate?

Where's Cate?!

There she is!
Cate's favorite game these days....her own version of peek-a-boo...she loves pulling burp clothes, blankets, mom's scarves, whatever she gets her hands on, over her face and waiting for you to ask where she is....and then she pushes it down with a big smile. She's just too much fun!

Six Months?!

And sick?!?
Cate turned 6 months old over the weekend while we were in Atlanta at Nana Julie's house. She also has her first cold, so she kept the entire house up at night with her coughs and frequent yells to be held throughout the night.....poor baby (and poor mom and dad, sleep was hardly existent). The drive home from Atlanta was pretty loud (Cate's yelling), but she made it. We had our 6 month check up on Monday, so I knew she'd been seen by the doctor and she wasn't having fevers, so the runny nose wasn't overly worrisome to us. The doctor agreed and felt like this was just a cold and we went ahead with her shots (so she could just be miserable the one time instead of twice). Cate got 4 shots and she was such a trooper, but she's been pretty clingy to mom since then! She had a fever over night, probably from one of the vaccines, but she's her playful self this morning!

Even sick, I managed to get a smile from sweet baby girl!

6 month stats:
Weight: 19 lbs 15 oz (98%-still a big girl)
Height: 27 1/4 inches (93%-growing long)
Head: 17 3/4 inches (96%-right on track)

Very curious about this elephant mom keeps sitting by her.

This is how she's looked most of Monday and Tuesday, just a little dazed.

Because Cate is growing right on track and still our big girl, our doctor said we could start feeding her solids twice a day, so she's getting oatmeal for breakfast and veggies for dinner, and of course several bottles throughout the day!

All Over the Place!

We're a little late getting the word out, but Cate is rolling everywhere! She started rolling one direction regularly over the holidays, and since then, she's going both directions and just clears herself a path to wherever she wants to be! Initially she was roll from her back to her stomach, and then realize she hated her stomach and just start yelling, not crying, yelling. Eventually she realized she could roll herself back and life has been much better since then.

This is when dad realized we were in danger, Cate when straight for the electronics, and almost reset the direct tv box faster than dad could get to her!

A much happier baby on her belly!

Maggie has taken up a post on Cate's blankets whenever we put them down. We now have quilts in every room for Cate to roll around on, and Maggie finds them much more comfortable than the carpet, so she too has taken to laying on them, which defeats the purpose since we're trying to minimize the dog hair Cate rolls in!

Green Beans

Miss Cate started veggies earlier this month, and mom made the mistake of starting with green beans.....her face was priceless with first bite....total disgust! Her dad is not the biggest fan of veggies, and I was afraid she was going to reject them all, but she's coming around and even warmed up to the green beans on night #2! Since then she's enjoyed sweet potatoes and squash, both of which were a big hit. I'm hoping peas and carrots go as smoothly!

Meeting the Big Man

Several weeks ago we took Cate to meet Santa (The Big Guy) at Southpoint Mall here in Durham. She did so well, at first I thought she was never going to look at him at all.

Something must have been quite interesting off to the side there.

We did get a smile from her, though she's still has no idea she's not sitting with mom and dad.

I love when she smiles!

Now, we've realized there's someone else here.

I LOVE this shot Lanny got of her....she never got upset, just stared at him. When I picked her up, he said she mentioned some teething rings and bath toys....he made a great Santa!

The Holidays

(just hanging out with my aunts)

We had a wonderful holiday season this year with lots of family and lots of relaxation! We started the week of Christmas with Nana Julie, Aunt Hannah, Aunt Suzie and Benny coming to Durham for a few days to visit. Cate had lots of quality time with each of them while they were here. They also brought Cate some fun toys and adorable clothes to open on her first Christmas.

Cate opening gifts, she really enjoyed ripping the paper off the boxes!

Naptime with Nana

After the Halls left for Atlanta, the Bodemanns arrived for their visit with Cate at Christmas. We're actually celebrating Christmas with them at the end of January when we are in St. Louis at Julie and John's house, so we didn't do any gift opening, but just got to enjoy time hanging out with family. Uncle Brian arrived on Christmas Eve after his flight got cancelled the day before, he left a white Christmas in Dallas to enjoy 50 degree weather (which is gone) here in North Carolina. Cate started rolling over regularly while they were here, so she was a constant source of entertainment for all!

Playing with Uncle Brian on Christmas Day

Napping with Grandpa....thumb sucking just like her mama.

With Grandma and Grandpa Bodemann before they leave for Arkansas.
Thank you to both our families for coming to us this year (I was on call for work). Cate are so lucky to have such fun and loving families! See you soon!
