One Month Growth

We had our one month check up yesterday, Cate was great through the entire visit, no fussing whatsoever! Here is where we are
measuring at:

Weight: 11 lbs (90% percentile)
Height: 22.5 in (87% percentile)
Head Circ: 15.2 in (81% percentile)

She is smiling regularly.
She is "talking" all the time.
She occasionally turns her head to our voices.
She is trying to hold her head up constantly.
She continues to like the evening hours.
She loves being in the bath tub.
She is sucking her thumb on occasion now.......

Computer Savvy

Cate is already quite savvy at the computer.....here she's video chatting with her Nana and Aunt Suzie. Hopefully we'll get more family online with Skype so Cate can see everyone regularly!

One Month

On Sunday, Miss Cate turned ONE MONTH?! Where has the first month gone to? I'm going to try to document each month through the first year, so we can see how much she has grown and changed over the year. It is amazing to me how much she's developed already. She still likes the night life, but is getting better at bedtime. She loves being in the bath each evening, no fussing at all. We go on Thursday for her one month appointment, so we'll have growth stats then!

(she's a little fuzzy in this one, but it's the only one with her little smile)

She was really focused on her daddy here behind the camera!

More updates and pictures to come soon!

The 'BIG' sister

We don't want anyone to think we've forgotten Cate's big sister Maggie (our furry first born)! Maggie is adjusting to life with Cate at home. She offers Cate her things/toys when Cate is crying, and she sniffs out the dirty diapers for mom and dad. All of these things are great improvements from Cate's arrival home, Maggie wanted nothing to do with her at that time. Maggie still wants all of dad's attention when he gets home, and she usually wants to be let outside just as I start feeding Cate, but overall, she's getting used to having a baby sister around here!

Cate and Maggie bonding time before we turn in for the night.

Maggie seems pretty protective now......hope it lasts!

Bath Time

We got the go ahead to start letting Cate bathe in a tub rather than a sponge bath about a week and a half ago....to say she didn't enjoy the first one would be an understatement as witnessed below.

Just getting started, and not really liking what's going on.

Firmly decided she does not like this, no matter how sweetly mom talks to her.

The world is alright again.

Now a week later, she actually seems to enjoy being in the water, I think we're starting to get it right!

She even lets mom wash her hair without problems....and yes there is still plenty of hair to wash!

Seems pretty happy, huh?

Company in Town

So a week or so ago, Cate had several visitors in town.....Aunt Julie and Uncle John surprised us by coming in from St. Louis. Aunt Julie was especially excited to hold Cate, she's been delivering babies for the last month since starting her residency in July.

Cate and Uncle John

Grandpa Mike and Grandma Peggs were also in town to see Cate, and grandpa was pretty excited to finally meet his first granbaby. We had a great weekend, we even got to celebrate Grandpa's birthday at the Angus Barn.

Thank you all for visiting us, we can't wait to see you all again soon!

Week 2

We're a little slow keeping up to date....still figuring out a routine! Cate is doing well, still eating all the time, though a little less often at night. We've gotten a few 5 hour nights of sleep but usually 4 is the max at a time. She is becoming quite animated, making lots of faces and noises. She's really a good baby, and of course she's adorable! Below are a few of the faces she's been making for us....
wondering about meal time.....
thinking she's going to eat momentarily
leaving dad surprises in her diaper....
just being happy

Week 1 at Home

We have now had our baby girl at home for an entire week......and we're still figuring things out! Cate continues to be a night owl, feeding VERY frequently at night, but we're trying to get into a routine. She has had trips to the pediatrician, lunch, and Target a time or two. Cate also got to meet the gang at El Rodeo on Friday night, she slept through the whole experience, but it was great to be out and back to our regular Friday night spot!

Cate loves to be held, we're working on not holding her ALL the time, but she's just so sweet it's awfully hard not to!

She always has her hands at her mouth, especially when she's hungry.......

She loves being in the bouncy chair, thanks Aunt Julie!
